Discovery will have a six-hour feed in Telugu from 1 October. The infotainment channel will progressively expand this local language feed to 24 hours in January. Interestingly, rival National Geographic had launched a Telugu feed this year.

"We launched a 24-hour feed in Tamil for Discovery in January. Since our viewership in that state has grown manifold, it clearly shows that dubbing works for us since the channel is commentary driven. We are considering two more languages," said Discovery India senior VP, GM Rahul Johri.

Johri, however, declined to elaborate on what other languages are being looked at.

Animal Planet has a Hindi feed and there are no plans to introduce a regional feed as of now. TLC will continue with its solo English feed as it taps upscale audiences.
