Besides the title sponsors Close Up and Kohinoor Basmaiti Rice, Vijay TV has roped in Dr MGR University, P dot G, Sri Lakshmi Jewellery, HIT, Ruchi Pickles, Vijaya Optical House, Himalaya Soap, Lalitha Jewellery, Premiere, Sabari Group, Europa, and Modfurn as associate sponsors, Radio Mirchi as the event partner and DOOHM as the outdoor media partner for the fifth edition of its cinema awards.

The channel announced that it will flag off the 'Rasigan Express' on 3 June at Chennai. 'Rasigan Express' is a publicity bus created for the Vijay Awards. Eminent film personalities like S.A. Chandrasekar (president of the Tamil Film Producers' Council), AVM Saravanan (producer) and R. Sarathkumar (president of the South Indian Film Artists' Association) will inaugurate the flag off ceremony from AVM Studios.

The Vijay Awards Rasigan Express bus will travel all around Tamil Nadu and is to be a platform for the public to file their nominees in the five favourite categories. The Rasigan Express bus will bear all the award winners photographs over the last four years. The bus will also have a special interior that has been designed to commemorate the fifth edition of Vijay Awards .

Vijay TV has started airing the initial episodes of 'Close Up Vijay Awards powered by Kohinoor The True Basmati' since 30 May. The show runs daily, Monday to Friday, at 10.30 pm until the final awards ceremony is aired.

The channel claims that its annual film awards show for Tamil Cinema conducted in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010 by Vijay TV was a phenomenal success and witnessed an array of celebrities, film technicians and movie buffs. And the event received an overwhelming response as it was the common man who voted for his favourite film categories besides the Special Jury categories.
