ILC Tamil has replaced IBC Tamil on Spectrum Radio (558AM in UK). You can listen to ILC Tamil daily from 19.02 to 21.58 CET on Spectrum Radio and on www.ilctamil.com.

IBC Tamil has started 24 Hour transmission on DAB radio in UK. IBC Tamil is not available through Spectrum Radio (558AM in UK) anymore, and due to BizAsia the reason is that IBC Tamil failed to make payments on time during its contractual period with Spectrum Radio.

Kalaignar TV Network has started their sixth channel, Kalaignar Chitiram, which is a kids channel. It was launched yesterday (June 3rd, 2010) which happens to be the birthday of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi.

Deepam TV has been encrypted again on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 10723, H, SR 29900 and fec 3/4.

Deepam TV is currently telecasting free-to-air on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 10723, H, SR 29900 and fec 3/4 due to their birthday in June.

Voice of Tamils Radio (NTR - Tamil) has left Eurobird 9A (9 degree East). The channel will start on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East) on June 1st at 09.00 CET. Frequency details are still not available.

It seems to be that Tamil radio-channels are leaving Eurobird 9A evenif Tamil channels from Sun Network are telecasting on Eurobird 9A. On 14/5-10 ETR (European Tamil Radio) left Eurobird 9A.

Venus TV has moved to a new frequency on Eurobird (28.5 degree East): 11224, V, SR 27500 and fec 2/3.

Sun Network UK earlier announced that they were going to start Sun News, Chutti TV and Gemini TV in Europe. But still these channels have not yet started, and therefor we contacted Sun Network UK, and they told us, that they still have some copyright problems with airing some cartoons and they have still not got license to telecast Sun News in Europe.

But they expect to start transmissions of Gemini TV in Europe in the end of this month.

European Tamil Radio (ETR) has left Eurobird 9A (9 degree East). The channel is still available on Hotbird (13 degree East).

DD Podhigai (Tamil), DD Urdu, DD Saptagiri (Telugu) and DD Sahyadri are telecasting free-to-air on Amos 5i (17 degree East): 4163, H, SR 5100 and fec 3/4 (MPEG4 - Pan-Africa beam).

Aarti TV has left Intelsat 12 (45 degree East).

Kalaignar TV Asia has moved to another frequency on Thaicom 5 (78.5 degree East): 3444, H, SR 5185 and fec 3/4 - free-to-air on global beam (also covering East-europe).

Roobam Radio, a webradio from Canada, is announcing that they will broadcast in Europe & Middle East on Hotbird satellite soon, and soon on FM in Canada.

According to Sun Network UK, it is not sure when Chutti TV, Sun News and Gemini TV will start on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East) in Europe. Even if Sun Network UK is announcing that viewers can get Sun TV, KTV, Adithya TV, Sun Music, Surya TV (Malayalam), Gemini TV (Telugu), Chutti TV and Sun News when they buy a MPEG4 decoder with 1 year subscription, the fact is that only Sun TV, KTV, Sun Music, Adithya TV and Surya TV are available in Europe.

Sun Network UK is currently having problems with TV-license from Ofcom UK, so they are waiting to clear that problem before the rest of the channels can start in Europe.

TV Lanka Channel 2 has left Eurobird 9A (9 degree East). It is unknown if the channel will return in Europe. TV Lanka Channel 2 was the one and only pay-TV Sinhala channel in Europe among 3 free-to-air Sinhala channels.

GTV (Global Tamil Vision) is currently telecasting free-to-air in Australia & New Zealand on Optus D2 (152 degree East): 12706, Vertical, SR 22500 and fec 3/4.

Deepam TV has left Optus D2 (152 degree East).

Lanka TV NETH has moved to a new frequency on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East): 11919, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4 - free-to-air.

Jaya TV, Jaya Plus and Jaya Max have started free-to-air on Intelsat 10 (68.5 degree East): 4130, Vertical, SR 8680 and fec 3/4.

The anti-Eelam channel, DAN Tamil Ozhi Lanka and DAN Tamil Alai run by S.S.K. Kuganathan from Paris, who is regarded as a cheater by many Tamils in Europe, will be moving to Eurobird 9A (9 degree East) again.

Allready DAN Tamil Alai has started on Eurobird 9A, and DAN Tamil Ozhi Lanka is expected to start on this satellite in the coming days.

DAN Tamil Ozhi Lanka was started on Eurobird 9A in Roots Global TV-package, but was later moved to Hotbird because Roots Global was closed down, and because only few Tamil viewers were watching channels from 9 degree East. After the move of Sun Network channels from Hotbird to Eurobird, DAN is moving back to 9 degree East because it is cheaper to broadcast their low-quality channel on this satellite.

Surya TV has replaced Sun TV MP2 on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East): 11996, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4 - free-to-air. Sun Network UK is probably telecasting this channel instead of Sun TV in MPEG2 to reach Malayalam-speaking viewers and to get more subscribers to their MPEG4 channels.

All DD channels (DD Podhigai, DD Urdu, DD Saptagiri and DD Sahyadri have left Amos 5i (17 degree East) again.

Cee(I)TV Tamil is currently telecasting free-to-air on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 11623, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4.

Jaihind TV has started free-to-air on wide beam on another frequency on Insat (83 degree East): 3750, Vertical, SR 3333 and fec 3/4.

A new Tamil channel called Tamil VOD has started free-to-air in Sun Direct package on Insat 4B (93.5 degree East): 11672, Vertical, SR 18000 and fec 3/4.

DD Podhigai (Tamil), DD Saptagiri (Telugu), DD Urdu and DD Sahyadri have started free-to-air on Amos 5i (17 degree East): 4157, Horizontal, SR 13000 and fec 3/4. It is unknown if it is only test transmission, but the signal of these channels should be available in Middle East and also in some parts of Europe if you have a big satellite dish (1.5-2 meters).

Bollywood HD has left Eurobird 9A (9 degree East) again.

A new Hindi channel, called Bollywood HD, has started free-to-air on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East): 11881, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4. You can only receive this channel if you have a receiver which is HD-ready.

Music India has changed to a new frequency on Eurobird (28.5 degree East): 12523, Horizontal, SR 27500 and fec 2/3 - free-to-air.

Media Asia contacted Sun Network UK today to know, when Sun TV was going to stop their transmission on MPEG2 system on Eurobird 9, but they couldn't tell us exactly when it will happen, but they informed us that we will experience the signal of Sun TV on- and off-air for some time on MPEG2 system.

Chutti TV has been replaced by their Malayalam channel, Surya TV, for some weeks as they are testing the channel, but they will launch Chutti TV, Gemini TV and Sun News in the second week of February. But as we checked with british Ofcom website, we couldn't see any license details for Sun News yet.

GTV on Hotbird is announcing that they will soon Star Vijay TV programmes on their channel. We contacted them to hear from when, but they couldn't say.

Allready Cee(I)TV Tamil and Deepam TV are showing some Vijay TV programmes, and Deepam TV programmes are mainly from Star Vijay TV while Cee(I)TV Tamil shows mainly Jaya TV programmes.

GTV had earlier announced that they were going to show Zee Tamizh programmes, but rumours says that Zee Network will transform Zee Tamizh into a News channel and they are also thinking about starting a Tamil music channel in India.

Siyata TV is back on Dialog TV in Sri Lanka.

Amrita TV has returned again on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East): 11919, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4. The channel is currently telecasting free-to-air.

Siyatha TV has left the pay-TV platform, Dialog TV, but is still available free-to-air on Intelsat 906 (64.4 degree East): 3715, L, SR 2800 and fec 3/4.

Tara Newz is back free-to-air on Apstar 2R (76.5 degree East): 4085, Horizontal, SR 2530 and fec 3/4.

Kairali TV and Amrita TV have left Eurobird 9A (9 degree East). The reason is unknown, and we tried to contact Amrita TV and Kairali TV headoffices in India, but they were unable to explain the reason. According to the channels' website, it seems to be that the channels have plans to launch in Europe again, but who the provider will be is unknown.

The popular Hindi general entertainment channel, Colors, has replaced 9XM on Eurobird (28.5 degree East) and is testing free-to-air on 11426, V, SR 27500 and fec 2/3. The channel will launch later this month and will join the View Asia package and be encrypted.

Brit Asia TV and The Sikh Channel have moved to 12480, V, SR 27500 and fec 2/3 on Eurobird (28.5 degree East).

UTV is close to partnering with Sun TV Network for a Tamil movie channel. Sources say the two will form a joint venture under which UTV will dub movies from Hindi, English and other languages.

The new movie channel will help Sun TV strengthen its bouquet further, say experts.

- Tamil Box Office (TBO) has left Apstar 7 (76.5 degree East). The channel is closing down. Recent days it has been repeating the same movies again and again. It is expected that the channel is going to leave the other satellites soon. 

- One Sri Lanka channel has started free-to-air on Eutelsat 9A (9 degree East): 11823, H, SR 27500 and fec 3/4. 

- Sri TV has left Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East). 

- Star Network has launched the first Southasian HD channel in UK. Star Plus HD has started encrypted on Eutelsat 28A (28.5 degree East): 12607, V, SR 27500 and fce 2/3.

- TV5 News (Telugu) has started encrypted in DISH Network package on Anik F3 (119 degree West): 12142, R, SR 20000 and fec 3/4.

- TV Today Network is now timesharing their Hindi news channel, Aaj Tak, with their English news channel, Headlines Today, free-to-air on Eutelsat 28A (28.5 degree East): 11260, V, SR 27500 and fec 2/3. Aaj Tak is available from 06.00-17.30, and Headlines Today from 17.30-06.00.
