Athavan Radio has started satellite transmission on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East): 11776, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4. This is the same frequency as Athavan TV. With this move from Lyca, their radio-channel can now directly compete with other well-established Tamil radio stations from Europe currently broadcasting on Eurobird 9A - TRT Tamil Olli, IBC Tamil Radio and ILC Tamil (Uyirodai Radio). After testing Athavan Radio online for a short period, Lyca has now tied hands with GTBC (Global Tamil Broadcasting Corporation) and renamed it to Athavan Radio.

Already Lyca Media is operating Lyca Radio and Lyca Dil Se radio in Hindi in London, but they have missed a Tamil radio station to compete with Lebara's IBC Tamil Radio. But soon they will be launching Athavan Radio on DAB in London too.
