Radio Mirchi, India's No. 1 radio station, started operations in the US on Saturday with its first station going on-air in the tri-state area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut with a frequency of 1600 AM.
With an eye on the South Asian diaspora, which forms a significant portion of the ‘immigrant’ population in these cities, the content promises to be a combination of the best in Bollywood music, infotainment and comedy.
The network will also feature shows from popular Indian radio jockeys such as RJ Sayema, RJ Rochie and RJ Shruti to give listeners in the US 'a slice of their homeland'.
The audience will also be able to tune in to the wildly popular Mirchi Murgas by RJ Naved and dance mixes on Club Mirchi on these stations.
