Today IBC Tamil is celebrating its 17th birthday. IBC Tamil radio was started on 9th June 1997 and has been broadcasting on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 12597, V, SR 27500 and fec 3/4 for listeners in UK, Europe, Middle-East and North-Africa. The station has recently been taken over by a former presenter on IBC Tamil in early days - Paramasamy Prabhakaran (Para Prabha), which is now running the station under "London Tamil Media Limited". 

When IBC Tamil faced some management problems after the civil war in Sri Lanka ended in May 2009, the station was accuired by Sathy Media Ltd., who started IBC Tamil on DAB radio in Greater London area and also started a sister-station called IBC Asia for Hindi and Urdu listeners. Former presenters left the station and new presenters took over and changed the programme schedule with new programmes. Some of the old presenters like S.K. Rajan and M.P. Arokkiyanaathan started their own radio-stations (Thamizhamutham Radio and ABC Tamil), but they have now joined IBC Tamil again. 

With the current new management many of the old presenters have joind IBC Tamil again and the radio is now run with the old concept, which has made many listeners happy.
