Two major telecommunication operators are running their own IPTV services recently. The one is Lyca's Lyca TV (earlier Aarti TV) and the other is Lebara's Lebara Play.

Both companies are advertising a lot to get more subscribers, and it can be a little bit confusing for Tamil people about what to choose. This article would like to give You an overview of the features of both Lyca TV and Lebara Play so You can choose the best provider of Tamil IPTV channels.

First let us look at Lyca TV:
It is offering Lyca Media's Athavan TV. Athavan TV broadcasts programmes from Puthu Yugam TV from India along with some few programmes produced by Athavan TV by itself - and some movies in the weekends. The channel has not so much to offer regarding presenters from Europe or programmes produced in Europe. It is noticeable that Athavan TV almost ignored the Tamil Eelam Heroes Remembrance Week last year.
Then Lyca TV also offers Deepam TV - which was once a popular channel in Europe. Today many presenters from Deepam TV have left the channel and the channel is broadcasting a lot of programmes from News 7 Tamil channel from Tamil Nadu - along with live call-in shows, movies, news and some serials. 
Lyca TV also offers anti-Eelam channels like DAN Tamil Oli, Nethra TV (Sri Lankan government channel) and Vasantham TV from Sri Lanka. Especially DAN Tamil Oli was regarded as a Sri Lankan government propaganda arm in the last stage of the civil war in 2009, where it called Tamil freedom fighters in LTTE as terrorists. 
If you are a fan of Sun Network channels, then Lyca TV is not the provider you should subscribe to. They don't offer any Sun Network channels in their package. 

Let us now look at Lebara Play:
Lebara Play is offering the popular IBC Tamil TV. The channel is telecasting a lot of own produced shows in high quality never seen before in European Tamil TV history. Also a lot of wellknown presenters from Europe are working for this channel now. 
Sun Network channels (Sun TV, KTV, Sun Music and Adithya TV) are also available through Lebara Play, and in total Lebara Play has few more channels to offer than Lyca TV. Lebara Play also offer a Sri Lankan TV-channel called Shakthi TV Global, but this is an independent Tamil channel from Sri Lanka. And Surya TV (Malayalam), Gemini TV (Telugu) and EuroNews (English) are also offered through Lebara Play. A minus point is that Lebara Play is not offering any other channels from Europe as GTV, Deepam TV or TTN Tamil Oli. But Deepam TV and TTN Tamil Oli - and also Athavan TV are available for free on their respective websites and through Media Asia's Live Tamil TVs page.
