IPTV provider, Yupp TV, has joined hands with DAN TV Network from Sri Lanka to offer their channels to their Tamil subscribers.

DAN TV Network from Sri Lanka operates DAN Tamil Oli, DAN Music, DAN News, Ohm TV, Pirai TV, DAN Sports, Kalvi TV, K4U, Kondaddam HD, and Channel Holy Maryin Sri Lanka.

Currently only DAN Tamil Oli, DAN Music, DAN News, Ohm TV and Pirai TV have started on Yupp TV.

DAN TV Network's general entertainment channel, DAN Tamil Oli, has been available in Europe through satellite for some years, and has recently stopped their satellite transmission to Europe and is instead available through IPTV providers like Lyca TV and now Yupp TV.

Under the final war between the Tamil rebels Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan military in 2009, DAN Tamil Oli was the main anti-Tamil Eelam propaganda arm of the Sri Lankan government. DAN Tamil Oli's news telecasts made diaspora Tamils angry as the news readers mentioned the Tamil freedom fighters of LTTE as Tamil terrorists.

DAN Tamil Oli didn't have much support by diaspora Tamils and advertisers as the channel was a low-quality channel compared to the many high-quality Tamil channels in Europe. The channel was also telecasting programmes from the Indian Tamil music channel, 7S Music, illegally in 2012.

Yupp TV has existed for many years and it has surprised Eelam Tamils that they are now offering DAN TV Network channels in their Tamil packages. Instead of Yupp TV Eelam Tamils have now a new player on the IPTV market - Lebara Play - which is a popular service with many good channels and movies - including IBC Tamil TV from UK. Lebara Play is expanding to other countries and will be a serious opponent to Yupp TV compared to what channels they offer - and here Yupp TV has made a big mistake of adding the DAN TV Network channels...

It is remarkable that Chitram IPTV which was offering Yupp TV channels recently - now is announcing on their website that Chitram TV subscribers will get 3 months of Lebara Play for free if they subscribe to Lebara Play and return their Chitram TV box back.
