tviNorth America's first 24H Tamil TV-station, TVI (Tamil Vision Int.) is going to be relaunched on Pongal this month. TVI has come under new management after it was put up for sale for some months ago. It was taken over by CMR, which is North America’s first South Asian owned and operated FM radio station in Toronto, Canada. CMR has moved TVI to the building where CMR is placed, and the channel is going to be relaunced as a HD-channel with new programmes and with new presenters.

TVI Tamil Vision has since it was launched for 15 years ago been a voice of Eelam Tamils from Canada. The channel had close ties with TTN Tamil TV from France, and shared a lot of programmes with TTN. After the closure of TTN in 2007, it continued with corporation with Global Tamil Vision (GTV) from UK and later IBC Tamil TV from UK. Recently IBC Tamil TV was launched in Canada by Asian Television Network as ATN-IBC Tamil TV, so it is expected that IBC Tamil TV programmes will not be available on TVI anymore. TVI did also have close corporation with CMR before 2007, but it was ended due to some reasons. Now the close relationship has been re-established with the take over of TVI by CMR.

The channel logo of TVI has also been changed a little bit after the take over. The dot over the "i" has been changed from the "eye" symbol to a circle wave of orange, blue and white color - shape looking a little bit like the CMR-logo.
