Raj Television NetworkBSE -3.73 %, a Tamil Nadu-based TV broadcasting company, has been caught second time by television viewership monitoring agency, BARC India, for alleged manipulation of viewership numbers for Tamil entertainment channel Raj TV.
It is learned from informed sources that BARC’s disciplinary council is looking in to the case and if found guilty, Raj TV could face a penalty that may range from suspension of the channel’s ratings for one week to more.
“This is the second time they have been caught. Last time there was no disciplinary council to take them to task. This time, the council is looking into it. The evidence is there,” one of the sources said.
Meanwhile, Raj TV has already filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking ad-interim relief. The appeal is expected to come for hearing on March 15.
Calls made to Raj TV office remained unanswered.
