A new Tamil channel, called Puthu Yuham, from Puthiya Thalaimurai group has launched today. The channel is expected to give the existing well-established channels like Sun TV and Star Vijay big competition. In the opening show actor Kamal Hassan parcitipated and also Tamil cinema stars like Simran, Kasthuri, Sonia Agarwal, Ambika, Sneha are doing shows in this channel. 

The channel has also launched a website (www.puthuyugam.tv) where it is possible to watch live stream of the channel and also recorded programmes. The channel is also present on Facebook (www.facebook.com/Puthuyugamtv), Twitter (https://twitter.com/Puthuyugamtv) and on Youtube (www.youtube.com/user/PuthuYugamTV).

The channel is also telecasting free-to-air on Intelsat 17 (66 degree East): 4015, Vertical, SR 30000 and fec 3/4. 

The network behind Puthu Yugam TV, New Gen Media Corporation, is also running the popular news channel, Puthiya Thalaimurai TV, which is more popular than Sun News. The network is also testing some other channels recently called Kalvi, Pengal and Kalai Saaral. It seems to be that the network tries to offer some more useful and different kind of channels than Sun Network which often focus on cinema and serials. 

The logo and channel ID presentation of Puthu Yugam TV has disappointed a little bit, but we would like to wish Puthu Yugam TV good luck!
