ibckidstvLondon Tamil Media Ltd. is going to launch a channel for children on Pongal day in January 2019. The channel is going to be called IBC Malalai (IBC Kids) and is expected to be a free-to-view channel through IBC's website and My IBC Tamil app - and as a pay-TV service through Yupp TV and Vadali IPTV box. 

There is big expectations for the new kids tv channel, which will be the first of its kind being launched outside India by Eelam Tamils. The channel was planned to be launched January this year, but it was later postponed.

It is relaunching Sun Life as a second GEC (general entertainment channel) targeting the young audience. Incidentally, the group has re-entered film making business under Sun Pictures, which made the blockbuster Rajinikanth starrer ‘Enthiran’, after 2010. The company is producing the Vijay starrer Sarkar now.

“Beginning September 2018, we will also reposition Sun Life into a second GEC to offer a totally different genre of entertainment that is designed to appeal to a generation of young viewers in the age group of 18 to 30 years,” said S L Narayanan, Group CFO (chief financial officer), Sun Group.

What is remarkable is the amount of Tamil channels from Europe among the popular Tamil TV-channels from India like Sun TV, Star Vijay etc. The channels are:

cvrhealthA health channel named CVR Health had telecast a show named ‘healthy nights’ in 2016 that was considered unsuitable for the television audience for which it was asked to go off air for three days with effect from 8-11 September 2018.

In a bid to attract audiences, the channel aired various films songs abundant with scenes that objectified women as well as movie clips that contained lovemaking scenes that were highly obscene and found unsuitable for telecast.
