ayngarantvA good news for Tamil viewers in Europe and Middle East. Ayngaran International, which is running the pay-TV channel, Ayngaran-Kalaignar TV on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 11585, V, SR 27500 and fec 3/4, is going to launch Jaya TV on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East) this month.

Expected launch date of Ayngaran-Jaya TV will be on August 25th on following frequency:

Satellite: Eurobird 9A (9 degree East)
Frequency: 11938
Polarization: Horizontal
Symbol Rate: 27.500
Fec: 3/4

Ayngaran-Jaya TV will telecast free for one month and then become a pay-TV channel. It will be possible for Ayngaran TV subscribers to watch both channels on one smartcard for a additional cost.

It has been a surprising move by Ayngaran TV to launch Jaya TV in Europe. It was expected that they were going to launch a channel called "Ayngaran Plus" as they have got license to launch this channel by British media authorities Ofcom for over a year now.

But Ayngaran TV is planning to launch a 24 H movie channel, called Ayngaran Movies 24. No launch date of this channel is yet decided.

When we asked about Ayngaran-Kalaignar TV was going to move to Eurobird 9A and end transmission on Hotbird, they told Media Asia, that don't have such plans. Ayngaran-Kalaignar TV will still be telecasting on Hotbird, while Ayngaran-Jaya TV will only telecast on Eurobird 9A.

When we talked with Kalaignar TV Network in India for some weeks ago, they told Media Asia that they were interested in launching more channels in Europe, so we may maybe see more channels from Ayngaran TV in the future.

ceeitvViewers in UK have been able to watch Jaya TV programmes for many years through Cee(I)TV Tamil (South For You) on Eurobird (28.5 degree East) on BSkyB as a pay-TV channel. Cee(I)TV Tamil has also been available in Europe on Hotbird several times in collaboration with Dish Asia Network (DAN), Deepam TV and later independently before it suddenly left Hotbird one day.
It was expected that Cee(I)TV Tamil was going to launch in Europe again after Jayalalitha won the election in Tamil Nadu, India, but it now seems unlikely.

With the launch of Ayngaran-Jaya TV and the upcoming movie channel from Ayngaran TV, Sun Network in Europe is getting more competition - especially also after the launch of Vijay TV in Europe.

According to Ayngaran TV website, Ayngaran-Jaya TV will bring:

"Absolute 24/7 entertainment will be provided where new films, exciting game and reality shows, latest songs and comedy clips will be designed & telecasted for the entire family to enjoy."

Keep an eye with Media Asia website www.mediaworldasia.dk for information regarding Tamil channels in Europe.
