GTV (Global Tamil Vision) has been disconnected from Eurobird 9A (9 degree East): 11727, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4 since Saturday 31-10-2015. False rumour has been spread among Tamil community in Europe that the channel has been completely closed down due to financial problems caused indirectly by Lebara & IBC Tamil. But the true reason is that GTV couldn't pay the satellite company, Eurobird, the fee for satellite transmission. They are currently working on raising the money to pay Eurobird, and according to a staff from GTV, the channel is expected to resume transmission from Thursday or Friday this week. 

After the closure of the popular TTN Tamil TV in 2007, GTV was the channel which was bought to Europe from Australia. At that time the channel was known as Tharisanam TV and then later Thendral TV before it was relaunched as GTV after several pressure from the Sri Lankan government to close down the channel because it was run by Eelam Tamils and telling the truth about the oppression of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka by the Sri Lankan government and military.
