The apex court of India has adjourned Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy’s plea on national security that challenged Sun TV being allowed to participate in FM Radio auction. SC has asked the central government to give Swamy the amended National Security Policy (NSP) in a week. Swamy had sought cancellation of Phase-3 licence granted to Sun TV's Red FM India. Public broadcaster Doordarshan's international channel - DD India - is all set to turn into an English news channel, while the bilingual DD News may soon air only Hindi news.
The decision to reposition the key channels was taken after much brainstorming at a recent meeting of the Prasar Bharati board, sources told PTI.

IBC Tamil Radio is celebrating its 20th birthday today. The popular Tamil radio station was launched in London as the 2nd 24 H Tamil Radio station in Europe on 09-06-1997 by A.C. Tharcicious (now operating ILC Tamil Radio), and was first broadcasting to Tamils in Europe through Astra satellite. Later the station moved to Eutelsat Hotbird satellite, and now the station is available through Eurobird 9A satellite for listernes in UK, Europe, North Africa and Middle East. IBC Tamil Radio was an important Tamil media in the civil war time between the Sri Lankan government and Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and became the voice of the oppressed Tamils in Sri Lanka and their fight for freedom through LTTE.
