Zee Middle East has announced the launch of its first radio station 106.2 Big FM in the UAE.

This adds to the business portfolio of ATL for this region and makes it the only broadcaster in the South Asian space to have both, television and FM stations. The station’s interesting line-up of content includes original content produced in-house, content acquired from Big FM in India and cricket rights of key series for ball-by-ball commentary.

Speaking on the launch, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL) International Broadcast Business CEO Amit Goenka said “We are proud of the addition of 106.2 Big FM into the Zee and ATL family. We are sure that like all our ZEE brands, 106.2 Big FM will also entertain listeners in the UAE. The product has been developed with a lot of attention to detail and I am sure it will be of immense interest to the advertising community.”

Zee Digital Convergence Limited's (ZDCL) live TV platform dittoTV has partnered with Idea Cellular for its entertainment app, Idea Movies Club. Through this, Idea subscribers will get access to a bouquet of 90+ premium live TV channels. Idea Cellular will also offer its subscribers a subscription of dittoTV bundled with its data recharges and Movie Club packs.

Idea Movie Club is a free video streaming app offering unlimited access to music videos, movies and Hollywood, Bollywood and regional TV shows across 10+ different languages. The live TV channels offered by the app can be accessed via ditto TV, which is featured as a separate tab in the app.

Indian direct to home (DTH) company Dish TV India Limited (Dish TV) has reported just 3.3 per cent increase in subscription revenue for the quarter ended 31 December 2016 (Q3-17, current quarter) as compared to the corresponding year ago quarter (quarter ended 31 December 2015, Q3-16). Total Income from operations (TIO) in the current quarter actually declined three per cent as compared to Q3-17.

Further, despite the sunset dates for DAS phases III and IV quickly approaching, the company could add just 220,000 subscribers (net additions) in the current quarter as compared t0 317,000 (net additions) in Q3-16. Dish TV says that it closed the current quarter with 1.53 crore net subscribers.

Continuing the trend is has set in the previous two quarters, Videocon d2h reported a profit after tax (PAT) for the quarter ended 31 December 2016 (Q3-17, current quarter). The DTH major reported PAT of Rs 21.77 crore (2.8 percent margin) for the current quarter. It had reported PAT of Rs 6.32 crore (0.8 percent margin) for Q2-17, and Rs 2.66 crore (0.3 percent margin) for Q1-16. For the corresponding year ago quarter (Q3-17), the company had reported a loss of Rs 22.05 crore.
