After buying out Rupert Murdoch-controlled STAR in Media Content and Communication Services (MCCS), the Anandabazar Patrika (ABP) group is planning to expand its news television network with two more regional language channels in Punjabi and Odia.

The Star Networks Malayalam general entertainment channel (GEC) offering Asianet will start airing a new reality show, a hunt for Kerala's most talented/best family - 'Bharthakkanmarude Sradakku' (BS) at the 8.00 pm weekend primetime slot starting May 31, 2013.
BS will run through 50 episodes Friday to Sunday. It replaces another reality show 'Sundari neeyam, sundaran njanum' which ran through 82 episodes.

Higher ad rates and subscription revenues helped give a leg up to southern broadcaster Raj Television Network in FY 2013 ended 31 March 2013, even though its performance in Q4 2013 was relatively disappointing. Net profit for FY 2013 rose marginally to Rs 9.28 crore as against Rs 9.21 crore. However, net profit in Q4 2013 took a nosedive to Rs 53.28 lakh as against Rs 4.65 crore in the previous corresponding year's quarter.

Kalanithi Maran's open offer was lapped up on the bourses on Wednesday. The founder of the Sun TV Network had to divest two per cent of his holding in the company to comply with a Sebi regulation which specifies that public shareholdings in listed entities should be a minimum of 25 per cent. And the deadline to achieve that is 4 June 2013.
Maran had put 7.88 million shares on the market, and the offer was oversubscribed 3.17 times, so say media reports. The share was bought at levels much higher than the floor price of Rs 403 each that had been set.
