Indian state-owned pubcaster Doordarshan is headed to Canada, the land of the maple leaf. And partnering it on its journey there is Asian Television Network (ATN), Canada's largest south Asian broadcaster. ATN announced a short while ago that it would be launching five channels under a license agreement with DD in Canada.
The deal has ATN getting exclusive rights to the five television services, namely DD India, DD News, DD Bharati, DD Urdu and DD Sports. The channels will have the tag ATN added before them, according to a release issued by it.

A prosecution witness on Friday told a special court here that DMK MP Kanimozhi, facing trial in the 2G spectrum allocation case, had "no role at all" in the Rs. 200-crore transaction between Kalaignar TV (P) Ltd and Cineyug Films (P) Limited.
The CBI's contention has been that Ms. Kanimozhi took interest in the day-to-day affairs of the TV channel, in which she was having 20 per cent shares.

The Tamil Nadu government today said it will move the Supreme Court for obtaining Digital Addressable System (DAS) licence to the state-run Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation (TACTV), revived after AIADMK came to power in 2011.
Information Technology Minister Mukkur N Subramanian told the state Assembly that Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa had taken up the matter twice with Centre, including writing to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in December but to of no avail.
