Maa TV launches Telugu GEC Maa Gold
Hyderabad-based Maa TV said today it is launching a Telugu general entertainment channel, Maa Gold.
The new channel is positioned to target the new generation with an aim to open up new vistas of entertainment in the Telugu television space with "differentiated content and right mix of genres" to all people, the company said.
The launch will be supported by Maa Music Awards in Hyderabad. Maa TV said that it has introduced the awards as a reciprocation of its "bonding" with the Telugu film industry and to "encourage" the music fraternity of the Tollywood.
Amrita TV to launch Sreepadmanabham
Amrita TV, the Malayalam entertainment channel, is gearing up to launch a new historical drama, Sreepadmanabham, on 26 January.
The show circumnavigates the Padmanabhaswamy temple of Travancore and depicts the tale of its past.
Directed by film director Suresh Unnithan, the show will air Monday to Friday at 9.30 pm.
Amrita TV claims that Sreepadmanabham is virtually the first television show to narrate tale of the temple that is intertwined with the history of princely Travancore and the erstwhile royal family.
Suvarna TV to air cookery show
The Star Network's Kannada GEC offering, Suvarna TV, will be airing a cookery-based reality show, 'Kitchen Khiladigalu', during the primetime 8 pm slot daily, Monday to Friday starting 30 January.
The Title sponsor of the show is Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) for its food brand Knorr.
Suvarna business head Anup Chandrasekharan said "Karnataka is a state of various cultures, traditions & food habits. This show will not only be a competition for the best cook in Karnataka but will also showcase the different types of food people eat in the state.
Sun TV launches three more pay channels
Sun TV Network Limited, one of the largest Television Broadcaster in India is launching three more pay Channels.
- Sun Life and Sun TV RI (Rest of India) in Tamil and Gemini Life in Telugu today.
Sun Life and Gemini Life will focus on lifestyle, religion, health, education etc.
Sun TV RI (Rest of India) will transmit the same Sun TV content but specialized for the Rest of India i.e. all States other than Tamilnadu and enabling the Advertiser to focus on specific geographical areas.
Raj TV Network's 11 channels join Asiasat 5
Raj Television Network has signed a lease agreement for C-band capacity on Asiasat 5 to broadcast a TV bouquet of 11 satellite channels in the Asia-Pacific region.
Raj Television Network's channel offerings on AsiaSat 5 include its flagship Tamil entertainment channel Raj TV; Tamil movie channel Raj Digital Plus; Telugu entertainment channel Vissa; Hindi entertainment channel "Raj Pariwar"; music channels in South Indian languages Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and Telugu; and news channels in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam.
