NDTV 24X7 expands reach in UK with Virgin Media
NDTV has launched its English news channel NDTV 24x7 on Virgin Media platform in the UK. The channel will be the only Asian news channel to be a part of Virgin's base pack along with other International news channels.
With the deal in place, the channel will reach out to an additional 3 million households, the company said.
NDTV Head - Network Distribution and Affiliate Sales Rahul Sood said "With this launch on Virgin, NDTV 24x7 is now available across a large majority of the TV viewing homes across the UK. It helps us further penetrate the UK market and reach out to all those viewers who have a deeper commercial and cultural interest in the news and stories from the sub-continent."
DD India's reach limits to 38 countries
The reach of the international channel of Doordarshan - DD India - has fallen to less than half following the shifting of the transmission from Intelsat to Insat 4B satellite.
While the channel was reaching 86 countries through Intelsat, it is currently reaching just 38 countries.
The contract with the Intelsat Corporation of the United States expired on 5 March this year. DD had been paying around Rs 80 million per year to Intelsat for the transmission.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar's Jupiter Capital may be in the fray for Eenadu TV, which is mulling a strategic merger or sale of its assets, said multiple sources familiar with the development. Jupiter will firm up its interest once the Eenadu promoters decide on the final contours of a potential deal, whether they want to divest the entire broadcasting business or sell a part of it, sources added.
Hyderabad-based Eenadu TV operates 11 general entertainment channels and one new channel under ETV brand. It is the broadcasting unit of Ramoji Rao-controlled Ushodaya Enterprises in which Nimesh Kampani of JM Financial is a large minority investor. Jupiter Capital has media and entertainment interests which include Asianet Communications, a joint venture with Rupert Murdoch's Star TV.
Sun TV to launch 4 HD channels
Sun TV Network will launch four new High Definition channels in Tamil and Telugu languages on 11 December 2011.
The company has always been in the forefront of pioneering new technologies and in bringing value added services to its customers. The launch of these HD channels is in line with that tradition and reinforces the company's competitive positioning in the South Indian broadcast media space.
The new HD channels are Sun TV HD, K TV HD and Sun Music HD for Tamil and Gemini TV HD for Telugu. These channels will be the first of its kind in Tamil and Telugu.
Official launch of Thamizhamutham Radio

Thamizhamutham Radio has launched officially today from 16.00 CET. Thamizhamutham Radio has broadcasted test transmission for a period on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 12597, Vertical, SR 27500 and fec 3/4. The channel has broadcasted programmes for 1 hour on FM in Paris since 1989 and started by S.K. Rajan (a wellknown presenter from IBC Tamil Radio), but the broadcast was stopped in 1997. Now the channel has been restarted by S.K. Rajan, and other wellknown presenters like Gunabalan (from TTN) etc.
