Big Kannada Entertainment Awards to air on ETV Kannada
Reliance Broadcast Network Limited (RBNL) flagship 92.7 Big FM, Bangalore today announced Big Kannada Entertainment Awards.
The title sponsor for the event is Cocoraj and it will be premiered on ETV Kannada.
RBNL says that it wants to create a platform which honours entertainment across genres - movies, music, television, dance, theatre and sports.
RBNL has already announced similar awards at Mumbai for the state of Maharashtra last week and plans to announce the Telugu Entertainment Awards shortly.

BBC Hindi to retain an hour's broadcast
The BBC's Hindi radio service has found some life left as the UK pubcaster has decided to retain an hour of evening news and current affairs broadcast.
On 26 January UK pubcaster the BBC had announced the closure of its news and current affairs radio output in Hindi, as part of the outcome of its Spending Review 2010 settlement.
Since the announcement, there has been much public discussion of the potential for retaining some of this service and the BBC has been approached by a number of commercial parties with alternative funding proposals.
Surge in Ratings for Amrita TV
An analysis of recent Television Audience Measurement(TAM) ratings for the period Jan 23- Feb19,2011 (Week 5 to 8) shows that Amrita TV has emerged as the second most preferred destination for viewers in the 8-10 pm band on weekdays among Malayalam channels.The surge is shown across the 15-55 age group among both males and females cutting across socio-economic segments.
The program which has become a discussion point among viewers in India and Middle East among a cross-section is the trend setting real-life show,"Kathayalla Ithu Jeevitham" which is telecast Monday through Friday,9.30- 10 pm.
Star Jalsha launches in Middle East on the Pehla platform
Star India is launching its Bengali entertainment channel, Star Jalsha, in the Middle East.
Star has inked a deal with Arab Digital Distribution (ADD) for this purpose.
Star Jalsha will be available exclusively on the Pehla bouquet, which caters to the South Asian population in the region.
Star Group's Star Plus, Star One, Star Gold, Star News and Channel [V] are already available on the same platform.

CBI searches Kalaignar TV offices
The Central Bureau of Investigation conducted a search in the offices and residences of the top management of the DMK controlled Kalaignar TV. The DMK patriarch M K Karunanidhi's wife M K Dayalu and daughter and politician Kanimozhi are majority shareholders in Kalaignar TV. Sources in Chennai confirmed that the CBI raid on the Kalaignar TV office, which started early this morning, has been completed for now.
DMK party's Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi said today that the channel has nothing to hide. She said that it has been operating according to established norms.
