Zee launches five more channels on Dish Network in US
Continuing with its overseas expansion plans, Zee Group has launched five new channels exclusively on Dish Network.
The new channels are Zing, Zee Business, Zee Smile, Zee Kannada and Zee Marathi, making it the largest launch of channels by any South Asian broadcaster in the US. Dish Network already offers Zee TV, Zee Cinema, Alpha ETC Punjabi and Ten Cricket.
Said Zee TV America CEO Suresh Bala, "The advent of more Zee channels on Dish Network acknowledges the vitality and influence of the South Asian audience in the United States. We are pleased to partner with Dish Network to give South Asians who live and work in the US- Indians, Pakistanis, Sri Lankans, Bangladeshis, and now Kannada and Marathi-speaking audiences a full range of entertainment choices and business news."

Arasu Cable to launch operations from September 2
The State-owned Tamil Nadu Arasu Cable TV Corporation will launch its operations throughout the State, barring Chennai, from September 2, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa told the Assembly on Tuesday.
Making a suo motu statement in the House, she said that the corporation would telecast 90 channels, including pay channels. "It will begin with free channels and steps are being taken to get the pay channels. Soon, customers will get the pay channels." The cable TV operators, who have joined the Arasu Cable TV Corporation will collect a monthly subscription of Rs.70 from the customers and pay Rs.20 to the Corporation. Each customer can save between Rs.70 and Rs.100 per month.
Ms. Jayalalithaa said though the DMK government launched the corporation in 2007 and provided over 50,000 connections, its functioning was crippled because of the self-serving DMK rulers. On March 31, 2011, the number of connections had come down to just 432.

Arasu Cable TV Corporation receives over 35,000 applications
The first phase of Arasu Cable TV Corporation Limited will soon be completed, said its Managing Director M Jayaraman.
After inspecting a few Multi System Operations here on Monday, Mr. Jayaraman said that connections all over Tamil Nadu would also be completed. At present 38,000 applications were received for cable operators though 40,000 cable operators were operating in Tamil Nadu. "They have expressed their willingness to join us," he said. Connections would be given to all.

Gemini TV bags 22 awards at AP Cinegoers Awards
The Sun Network's Telugu GEC offering Gemini Television has won awards across 22 categories out of 35 categories at the 7th Annual TV Awards organised by T Subbarami Reddy Lalitha Parishath and 41-year-old AP Cinegoers' Association.
ETV with 5 awards was second. Film Producer D Rama naidu inaugurated the function.
For the first time this year, viewers selected the award winners for 25 categories by SMS and online voting, while 10 categories for personal achievements were picked by a jury panel.
Morani denies any bribe given to Kalaignar TV
Cineyug Films' founder Karim Morani today claimed before a Central Bureau of Investigation Special Court that the investigative agency had failed to establish that the alleged trail of Rs 2 bilion to the DMK-run Kalaignar TV was a bribe in lieu of grant of 2G licence.
Seeking his discharge in the 2G spectrum allocation scam, Morani said he was "'innocent"' and "cannot be a part of the conspiracy. Being a friend to someone is not enough to prosecute anyone."
