Zee Kannada offices attacked on dubbing issue
Members of the Karnataka Television Association (KTA) yesterday attacked the Zee Kannada offices located just off the busy MG Road in the Garden City.
The KTA was protesting against the telecast of footage of the Hindi television serial 'Jhansi Ki Rani' on Zee Kannada. A few television sets and computers were damaged in the attack.
The KTA contends that dubbing of a programme made in other languages robs job opportunities of local artistes. According to the Association, Zee South Head Gautham Machaiah and Fiction Head Parameshwara Gundkal had been requested not to air the programme.
Discovery Network launches Tamil channel
Discovery Networks Asia-Pacific has added its seventh channel to its kitty with the launch of Discovery Channel Tamil in India. A dedicated 24-hour channel, it will target Tamil speaking viewers in Tamil Nadu and the rest of the country.
To commence from 15 August, Discovery Channel Tamil will feature programmes across various genres
Ayngaran-Jaya Tv to be launched
A good news for Tamil viewers in Europe and Middle East. Ayngaran International, which is running the pay-TV channel, Ayngaran-Kalaignar TV on Eutelsat Hotbird (13 degree East): 11585, V, SR 27500 and fec 3/4, is going to launch Jaya TV on Eurobird 9A (9 degree East) this month.
Expected launch date of Ayngaran-Jaya TV will be on August 25th on following frequency:
Asianet in deal with TSA for Brazilian football league
The Brazilian Football league is all set to hit TV screens in Kerala. Coming hot on the heels of the league's entry into the Indian market in West Bengal, it will now be available in Kerala through Asianet who will show the matches on its channels, Rosebowl and Asianet Cable Vision (ACV).
The league, distributed by Globo TV Sports and facilitated by Total Sports Asia, sees one of the World's most exciting football leagues creating a footprint for itself in India's biggest regional markets.
